Sponsored by the National Education Association, “Read Across America Day is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.” .
This year the St. Michael Albertville Hanover Friends of the Library, in order to help local schools celebrate this event, donated ten hard cover books to each school. The books will be placed in their library collections where each student will have access to them. Library Media Specialists chose ten titles that were needed for their collections. The books were presented to Library Media Specialists at each school on March 2nd.
It is the wish of the St. Michael Friends of the Library to promote the importance of reading and access to quality reading materials for all.
The St. Michael Friends of the Library also work to support the local public library and the community by advocating for the importance of community public libraries, raising funds to support and fund programming and special events at the public library, and raising funds to purchase equipment and materials for the public library.
